Kate Hudson Wasn’t Too Shocked That She Was Disowned By Her Estranged Father

Yesterday, Kate Hudson‘s estranged father, Bill, publicly disowned Kate and her brother, Oliver. Bill declared the two were “dead to me” after Oliver posted a gut punch of a Father’s Day message. Sources now tell Us Weekly that Bill’s reaction didn’t surprise his kids. Despite the harshness of their biodad’s words, Kate and Oliver simply shrugged:

A source close to the actress tells Us that Kate, 36, and Oliver, 38, had “zero relationship” with their musician dad for years. “They don’t care and are not surprised by this. It’s been this way, and he’s been saying this stuff forever.”

Another insider close to Oliver echoes what the first source told Us. “They weren’t surprised at all that Bill spoke out. He’s always trying to clear his name and his image.” Another insider adds: “The Instagram was a joke… Oliver did not expect it to blow up to this level.”

The Oliver pal, meanwhile, alleges that Bill knows what he’s doing. “They don’t see him or talk to him unless it’s by accident,” the insider tells Us of Oliver and Kate. “They just think it’s ridiculous that he’s playing the victim.

The publication continues, saying Bill has always been aware that Kate and Oliver consider Kurt Russell to be their true father. Bill’s still standing firm on his claims of parental alienation, which is hard to prove or disprove. This family feud spans decades. Bill previously trashed Kate in his 2011 memoir. He labeled his daughter as “just awful” and tossed out several insults, including “maneater” and “spoiled brat.”

It’s not surprising to hear that Kate’s not surprised to be disowned.
