First Photos From ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’ Drop Before San Diego Comic-Con

Not only is the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies film adaptation still happening, but most of it has already happened. At least, that’s what the latest photos from Entertainment Weekly‘s big San Diego Comic-Con issue indicate.

In addition to the featured image above, EW released three brand new stills from the film itself, which is due in theaters February 5, 2016. The magazine also discussed the movie with director Burr Steers, who apparently wanted his cast to take the source material very seriously:

“The idea was that it was Pride and Prejudice set in this alternate world and then for everyone to play it straight,” Steers explains. “The movie’s big wink is that there is no big wink.”

Yeah, so basically this will be a rehash of Masterpiece Theatre‘s many renditions of Jane Austen, but with zombies. Or, as actress Lily James says, “It’s definitely not camp.” Right, a sudden appearance of flesh-eating, reanimated corpses in the midst of Victorian pleasantries. This won’t be campy at all. (See Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for sarcasm reference.)
