Marvel has its new Peter Parker and a new director for their Spider-Man reboot, and now they’ve hired two pretty awesome screenwriters to recharge the webslinger. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who have written the Horrible Bosses movies and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, have signed on to write the solo Spidey movie that will star Tom Holland and be directed by Jon Watts. They will also be the ones who will have to convince us that Marisa Tomei will make a perfectly wise, hot Aunt May, so they really have their work cut out for them. (Maybe Sean “Death Reel” Bean will get to play another murdered character, Uncle Ben? Just an idea.)

Apparently, the pair were also in the running to direct the movie, but didn’t land that gig. But Spider-Man won’t be their first reboot; they also wrote and directed the new Vacation starring Ed Helms as a grown Rusty Griswold. Maybe they’re rebooted out?

All I can say that if Dr. Sweets from Bones had to die to make this happen, I can’t be that sad about it.
