Sandra Bullock will use her Minions press tour for good. She sat down with E! Online to confront the media’s attack on women. Should Sandra have stuck to lighthearted subject matter while promoting a children’s popcorn flick? Nah. This subject can’t be mentioned often enough.

Sandra, who was named People‘s Most Beautiful Woman of 2015, laughs off the honor. She calls People‘s title “generous” and only agreed to the feature if she could highlight women who “take care of business and do wonderful things.” She tells E! how “embarrassed” she is by Hollywood’s attack on women:

“I feel like it’s become open hunting season in how women are attacked and it’s not because of who we are as people, it’s because of how we look or our age. I’m shocked — and maybe I was just naïve, but I’m embarrassed by it. My son is getting ready to grow up in this world and I’m trying to raise a good man who values and appreciates women, and here we have this attack on women in the media that I don’t see a stop happening … We need to stop. We are harming girls and women in a way, at a speed that it’s scaring me. It’s really scaring me, so I would love for someone to help put a stop to this.”

Bullock goes on to cover the difficulty of online bullying, especially when it comes to young girls but also adult actresses. She and her buds have each other’s backs when the media starts hammering those who dare to age. There’s no easy solution to this dilemma. The debate isn’t new, and it’s not going away anytime soon. As long as audiences keep buying tickets to watch 50-year-old leading men romance 25-year-old ingenues, the trend will continue.
