New ‘Beasts Of No Nation’ Teaser Posters Feature Idris Elba And Abraham Attah In Stunning Character

Cary Fukunaga has been a sleeper writer/director for a long time. He has written and directed multiple, highly engaging shorts (Kofi was nicely done), while he has also written and directed a blistering look at one of the strangest relationships on-screen in Sin Nombre.

Fukunaga became “mainstream” when he directed and produced the first season of True Detective. Along with some articulate storytelling from Nic Pizzolato, Fukunaga cemented himself as a creative force that was here to stay.

His latest film, Beasts of No Nation, will premiere on Netflix October 16th, 2015 (and in some select Landmark theaters). The story, adapted by Fukunaga from Uzodinma Iweala’s novel, will follow Idris Elba as the Commandant in a war torn African country and Abraham Attah as Agu who must learn to “adapt” to this way of life. This life consists of bloodshed, rape and numbness to any feelings of goodwill.

Netflix has also released new poster artwork that nails Fukunaga’s exact tone of transformation, while also displaying its two lead actors in both dark and sad light.

So far this is looking like a solid next entry from Fukunaga. We. Are. Ready.
