The Oscars Will Have Two Hosts Again. Who Should They Be?

Because everyone loved Anne Hathaway and James Franco’s split-hosting in 2011 so much, next year’s Academy Awards will once again have two masters of ceremonies, inspiring a million #TrueDetectiveSeason2 jokes. Oscars producer and former Fox executive David Hill made the announcement earlier today, telling EW, “There will be multiple hosts for sure – there will be two.” But why, when it was such a disaster last time? “Two is better than one,” he replied. Oh.

“Just imagine, you’re in there. One of your hosts drops dead from cardiac arrest. What do you do? Second host goes on! And you keep going…Note to self. Check out their heart rates.” (Via)

With material like that, why isn’t this guy hosting? There are no current frontrunners for the gig, although EW theorizes that Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, whose titular Comedy Central series is coming to an end soon, have the best shot, followed by Golden Globes heroes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Either would be great, but they seem too obvious. Some other possibilities:

-Imperator Furiosa and Mad Max
-Minions, all of them
-Channing Tatum and The Rock in a charm-off
Kermit and Denise

It’s going to be Kermit and Denise.
