There’s A Call To Boycott ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ Thanks To Internet Trolls

If you spent any time online Monday, you may have noticed that the top trending topic on Twitter was #BoycottStarWarsVII. It turns out, the spark behind the “movement” might not be from the same worldview that took issue with Idris Elba being cast in the Thor movies, or accused Mad Max: Fury Road of attacking men’s rights, but rather something that started as a prank on 4chan.

The reason given for the alleged “boycott” was a claim that the movie was being used to promote white genocide due to the diversity of its cast. While it certainly stirred the pot, the majority of tweets seem to be generally good-humored, with most people hoping that this will make it that much easier to buy their tickets tonight. Until then, here’s a handful of the best reactions.
