These Were Named The Most Rewatchable Movies Of All-Time

A fun way to pass the time during a long car ride with friends is to record a podcast called How to NOT Murder Your Friends During a Long Car Ride. Should that prove too difficult, you can always ask your pals, “If you had to watch one movie every day for the next year, what would it be?” There are two ways of answering. You can play it smart and pick something like Duck Soup, because it’s only 68 minutes long. Or you can actually answer the question and name the film you most enjoy watching (both scenarios apply for Duck Soup).

The number nerds over at Five Thirty Eight ran a survey that “asked people to list the five films they consider the most rewatchable.” You’ll note it says “films,” not “film series,” but people still wrote down Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, rather than Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban or The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, while others named Star Wars, which Five Thirty Eight considered to only be Episode IV, not all six. It’s a little confusing. But after 4,362 entries from 1,169 respondents, here are the results.

Star Wars 98
The Wizard of Oz 76
The Sound of Music 58
The Lord of the Rings (series) 56
Gone With the Wind 52
The Godfather 45
The Princess Bride 45
The Shawshank Redemption 42
Harry Potter (series) 36
It’s a Wonderful Life 35
Forrest Gump 33
Grease 33
Dirty Dancing 32
Pulp Fiction 29
Titanic 29
The Lion King 28
Pretty Woman 28
Casablanca 27
The Matrix 25
The Notebook 25
Star Trek 24
Finding Nemo 24
Goodfellas 22
Pride & Prejudice 19
Caddyshack 18
The Avengers 18

Brutal blow for The Shawshank Redemption; it’s not used to this kind of shabby not-being-at-the-top-of-a-chart treatment. As for everyone who wrote The Sound of Music, Pretty Woman, and Pride & Prejudice, I think they misspelled Blazing Saddles, The Fugitive, and the Air Bud franchise.

Huge oversight.
