Daniel Craig Is Changing His Tune About Playing James Bond Again

Woe is Daniel Craig.

The current James Bond, whose most recent 007 gig Spectre opened Friday to lots and lots of money despite barely being certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, just wants to hang up his tux for good.

He said as much early last month when he told Time Out, “if I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money,” and “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

Now that the latest Bond adventure has actually hit theaters, Craig is changing his tune just a bit. On Thursday morning’s Today show, he told host Matt Lauer, “If you’re 200 yards from the end of a marathon, and someone comes running up to you and says, ‘Are you going to run another marathon?’ there’s two words you use, and not on a morning show.”

Craig added that he “probably had more fun on this film than I have on all the others put together,” and that he “may” play Bond for a fifth time. His ambiguity regarding the task probably isn’t sitting well with Bond producers, who signed the actor to a five-picture contract to play the British superspy, though. Spectre marks Craig’s fourth outing as Bond.
