The New ‘Hateful Eight’ Trailer Turns Up The Intrigue (And Slows It Way Down)

In August, the first glorious full trailer for The Hateful Eight dropped, and that sucker clocked in at a full two and a half full minutes. Director Quentin Tarantino has outdone himself with this second trailer, which runs the same length and provides a little bit more information on what the film’s about. This installment is less epic in presentation and includes moments we’ve already seen, but it also packs in more of the expected Tarantino touches: The dialogue crackles and the grizzled characters pop out of the snowy landscape.

Betrayal and blood abound for these blizzard-bound characters, who are all brought together in post-Civil War Wyoming. Here, Tarantino tells us more more about the players — Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Demian Bichir, and Bruce Dern — and their respective missions. Yet, ever the tease, he opts to introduce the titular eight by their titles rather than reveal too much about their motivations.

The Hateful Eight will arrive after an arduous haul. The movie’s production was plagued by script leaks, and the promotional trail has been complicated by a police boycott that has gone national. None of this will likely deter Tarantino’s fan base. The Hateful Eight hits theaters on Christmas Day.

Saddle up, cowboys.
