There Will Be Zero Boys In Jennifer Lawrence And Amy Schumer’s Comedy

As today marks yet another day on The Hunger Games press tour, it also marks another thing spoken aloud by Jennifer Lawrence that will launch a thousand blog posts (…including this one). Specifically, Lawrence shared key details about her upcoming Amy Schumer collaboration with Entertainment Tonight. Before we unpack every single word of the interview, let’s recap what we already know:

  • The two started writing the script after Lawrence saw Trainwreck, emailed Schumer, and told her, “I’m in love with you.” Which is weird, because I told Schumer the same thing when I interviewed her and we aren’t writing a script together. I feel like maybe she just didn’t hear me?
  • They play sisters, despite the fact that Schumer “feels like I’m in the movie Twins and I’m Danny DeVito when I’m with her.”
  • The script is “funny, dirty, and real,” according to Schumer.
  • At one point, Schumer and Lawrence holed up with Aziz Ansari and Chris Pratt in Atlanta to work on said script and eat Chris Pratt’s terrible barbecue. All wore sweatpants.
  • Schumer and Lawrence’s creative process includes sending pages to each other via email and “cracking up.”
  • Schumer and Lawrence’s creative process includes dancing on Billy Joel’s piano at Wrigley Field in front of thousands.

In other words, we basically know nothing about this movie, except for the fact that it is a movie and it exists in script form somewhere and Lawrence and Schumer are fun as hell and I want to hang out with them.

But today, all of that changes (minus that last part — Amy, please call me). Today, Jennifer Lawrence has gifted us with some vague, sketchy details about the film’s plot, as well as a vague, sketchy confirmation of some other stuff that Amy Schumer has already said. Ready to review again?

  • When asked if the movie will, in fact, be “funny, dirty, and real,” Lawrence said, “Yep! It is all of those things.
  • Schumer and Lawrence will play an airport employee and a “mess,” respectively. “Amy, in this movie, she has it very together,” said Lawrence. “It’s her lifelong dream to be a flight attendant. She works at the airport. And I’m a mess.”
  • The two started writing the script after Lawrence saw Trainwreck, emailed Schumer, and told her, “I’m in love with you.” I know, we know. But wait! There’s more. “I reached out and everything just happened so quickly,” Lawrence explained. You’re welcome.
  • The two are likely going to offend the MPAA. “We both have very similar senses of humor, obviously and aren’t afraid, which is a good and bad thing,” said Lawrence, “because I don’t know what our movie will be rated.”
  • The two are very blunt, so they’ve gotten through a strenuous process without ever fighting. “We’re both very blunt,” said Lawrence. “So we’ve gotten through a really strenuous process without ever fighting, because we’re both very straightforward.”
  • There will be no boys in this movie. When the interviewer asked Lawrence if she’d invite Hunger Games co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth to join the film, Lawrence replied, “No, no, no, no, no…There’s not really boys in it.” Lawrence later added to Extra, “There’s not really a lot of [male characters] in the story. It’s mostly just me and Amy.”
  • Also revealed in the Extra interview: Lawrence recently “busted her ass in the middle of a full restaurant.”
  • She was “dead sober.”
  • She swears to God that her butt is like, permanently bruised.

Think that about covers it for now. Please stay tuned for updates on the film and the state of Lawrence’s tailbone.
