Japan Further Teases Its New ‘Godzilla’ With A Menacing New Poster

Gareth Edwards will bring movie audiences his sequel to Godzilla in 2018, but fans of the King of All Monsters will not have to wait that long for a new film. Toho — which is the Japanese company that gave us Godzilla and his legion of sequels (not to mention movies featuring other mammoth kaiju including Mothra and King Ghidorah) — is preparing for their most popular franchise to land in Japanese theaters on July 29, 2016 with Godzilla: Resurgence.

The creative forces spearheading Godzilla: Resurgence have promised how this version of Godzilla will be the biggest version of the creature on film yet and the absolute most terrifying portrayal of the monster. Toho has released a teaser trailer that doesn’t really reveal much of anything but establishes the chaotic mood of the movie. From all outward appearances, it seems that Godzilla will not be the anti-horror or guardian of Japan as he has been represented in some films, but will be the villain.

Along with the teaser trailer, Toho has revealed a poster that remains focused upon the monster and his more sinister and dark appearance. According to all outward appearances, this film is a serious attempt by Toho to revitalize their most popular and well-known franchise.

Did you see the teaser trailer yet? It’s insane.
