Estimates vary on how much of the Internet is made up of porn, but let’s assume it’s somewhere between a lot and A LOT. That doesn’t leave much room for #content that doesn’t begin with XXX and ends with a satisfied moan, but it’s like Jeff Goldblum said: Life and things that aren’t porn find a way.
Speaking of: Jurassic World, which earned all the money (at least until Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes it), was one of 2015’s “Top Trending General Searches,” according to Google. The Chris Pratt-starring film finished second, behind Lamar Odom and ahead of American Sniper, Caitlyn Jenner, and Ronda Rousey. The rest of the top 10: Paris, Agario, Chris Kyle, Fallout 4, and Straight Outta Compton. Not a Kardashian or Bieber in sight (sort of).
Elsewhere, the Top Trending Person was Lamar Odom; the Top Trending Actor and Actress were Charlie Sheen (followed by Bill Cosby, yeesh) and Orange Is the New Black‘s Ruby Rose, and never the twain shall meet; and the Top Trending Meme and GIF: Pepe the Frog and Shia LaBeouf’s “Just Do It.”

There’s little surprising about the most-searched for movies — they’re the year’s most popular titles (damn Minions), except where’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens? The top trending shows, meanwhile, are unexpected. Better Call Saul is great television, but its ratings and Twitter presence are minuscule compared to Empire, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, which didn’t even make the cut. Expect David Simon’s porn series for HBO to be number one next year.
