Wonder Woman Finally Speaks In New ‘Batman V Superman’ Footage

Is it stealing if you steal from another thief?” In the last of the six new clips above from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Bruce Wayne confronts antiques dealer Diana Prince about a missing antiquity. Other than the sentence “Oh, I don’t think you’ve ever known a woman like me,” the promotions from the movie so far have been very much lacking in dialogue from Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). Perhaps they’re holding some back to let her steal the show later, or maybe they think the natural accent of the former soldier and combat trainer for the Israeli army would be difficult for some people to understand. I think the accent works, and I’d much rather hear a Wonder Woman with an Israeli accent than somebody faking an American accent or doing some drama kid hybrid nonsense like whatever Angelina Jolie was doing in Alexander.

Before that final clip — which Ben Affleck once described as aThomas Crown Affair, Bond-y sexy scene” — comes five other clips, most of which we’ve already seen. There’s Lex Luthor commanding Superman to kill Batman, presumably having kidnapped Lois Lane (Amy Adams) to force Superman’s hand. There’s Lois Lane trying to track down the origin of some mysterious bullets. There’s two scenes of Batman and Superman sparring, one verbally in their plainclothes and the other violently in costume. And then there’s that scene of Affleck’s embittered, world-weary, haunted by rage Batman trying to convince Alfred why Superman is their enemy. “Twenty years in Gotham, we’ve seen what promises are worth. How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?”

This Batman really doesn’t have a very high opinion of fellow superheroes at the moment…

Batman V Superman: Freaks Dressed Like Clowns opens March 25, 2016.
