‘Batman V Superman’ Flirts With Reality In Two Very Meta Turkish Airlines Super Bowl Ads

Two ads for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice just aired during the Super Bowl as tie-ins with Turkish Airlines. The first is above with the second at the bottom of this page. They’re presented as travel ads for vacation destinations Gotham City and Metropolis, with a few easter eggs like the ACE Chemicals headquarters, the under-construction LexCorp building, and Superman zooming past the Metropolitan Museum Of Modern Art.

“Thanks to a significant grant from my company, Wayne Enterprises, Gotham City is being restored to its former glory,” Affleck’s Wayne explains as footage shows the city’s opera house and nightlife scene in “the new Bowery.” […]

“Thanks to LexCorp’s substantial contribution, Metropolis is now open for business again,” proclaims Eisenberg’s long-haired Luthor. (Via)

As amusing as it is to see Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor, Jr., welcoming travelers to their respective cities marred by recent tragedies, was I the only one yelling, “Bullsh*t” when the voiceover guy cheerfully referred to Batman as a “local celebrity”? Pretty sure his reputation in Gotham wouldn’t make you particularly look forward to meeting him. Yes, I am getting fanboy annoyed at an airlines ad during a sportsball game.

Anyway, we look forward to seeing all of the advertising crossover opportunities Zack Snyder can find for Batman V Superman considering Man Of Steel made back its budget in corporate sponsorships before the movie even hit theaters.

Batman V Superman: Your Ad Here opens March 25th, 2016.
