Bill Murray Is Stranded In Afghanistan In The First Trailer For ‘Rock The Kasbah’

The first minute or so of the long-awaited official trailer for Barry Levinson’s Rock the Kasbah would have us believe that Bill Murray’s totally screwed music manager is simply trying to find his way home from Afghanistan. After all, his main and possibly only client (Zooey Deschanel, sans ukulele) leaves him high and dry with no money or passport, according to an American with a large gun (Bruce Willis, naturally), and any time you run into Danny McBride, trouble typically follows.

But all of this is just smoke (on the waterrrrrrrr) and mirrors, because at the heart of Rock the Kasbah is a presumably sweet story.

A down-on-his-luck music manager discovers a teenage girl with an extraordinary voice while on a music tour in Afghanistan and takes her to Kabul to compete on the popular television show, Afghan Star.

I assume it’s only a matter of time before we find out that this is a true story from Murray’s own bizarre travels. Honestly, would you be surprised?
