Celebrate The 40th Anniversary Of ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ With This Western Movie Montage

Approximately 40 years ago this month, country singer Glen Campbell stepped into the recording studio to put his own spin on the Larry Weiss song, “Rhinestone Cowboy.” The result was a smash hit that jumped to the top of the charts in the U.S., Canada and Ireland, while also finding success from Australia to South Africa. It finished the year as the No. 2 song on the Billboard Hot 100, behind only Captain & Tennille’s “Love Will Keep Us Together.” Even today, some music critics still believe that was a crime against true art.

Fortunately, our good friend Robert Jones is giving Campbell’s hit the tribute it deserves by setting it as the soundtrack of another excellent movie mashup, this time involving Hollywood’s greatest classic Western movies. And The Quick and the Dead is in there, too.
