Our Current Captain America Weighs In On The Prospect Of Brie Larson As Captain Marvel

We’ve all had a few days to digest the talk that Oscar-minted actress Brie Larson is the current frontrunner for the role of Captain Marvel. If you’re looking for an endorsement of Larson’s potential place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe™, you’ve got one from Captain America himself. Or the guy that plays Captain America anyhow. (Which is probably good considering what comic Cap’s endorsement might be linked to.)

ComicBook.com has video of Chris Evans being asked about his thoughts of Larson as a possible Carol Danvers and the response was a pretty positive one. Y’know, not that you’d expect the guy to dump all over the idea of the Academy Award approved actress possibly (POSSIBLY) getting the part.

“I just heard about that,” Evans told the Wizard World Philadelphia crowd. “I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ’09, Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she is phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.”

Yup! In case you forgot, the two were in that movie (a comic book movie, no less) together, with Larson as songstress/Pilgrim ex Envy Adams and Evans as skateboarding actor lunk Lucas Lee.

Even if Marvel elects to lock in Larson as their Captain Marvel, there’s a pretty big wait ahead until the standalone movie hits theaters. Captain Marvel is currently slated for March 8, 2019 with no director attached. So if you’d like to direct the film, maybe send Marvel a polite letter.
