A ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Stuntman Endorses Chris Hemsworth For The Next James Bond

After a year of James Bond rumors (that felt like a decade), with everyone from Idris Elba to Gillian Anderson being pitched as the next super spy, common sense reportedly prevailed when the franchise’s producers pushed the release of Bond 25 back to 2018. You could make a case that Spectre served as an example of what happens when a film of this sort gets rushed, as the most recent Bond offering was reportedly way over budget before production even began. But there were apparently ultimately three issues that were keeping this movie from happening: 1) Barbara Broccoli is reportedly focusing on two other movies; 2) There is still no distributor; and 3) Broccoli really wants Daniel Craig to return as Bond.

Will Craig finally come to his senses after he’s done working on Purity and Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky? Your guess is as good as Broccoli’s. At the very least, though, the delay should spare us from the neverending rumor mill and the gambling odds, right? You wish. Now, a stuntman on Thor: Ragnarok has cast his Bond ballot for Chris Hemsworth.

Bobby Holland Hanton, a stunt co-ordinator and professional stuntman labelled the Aussie hunk “head and shoulders” above the competition and said: “Chris is in a league of his own.”

“The buzz and in my opinion is that it’s Chris Hemsworth for Bond. He would be perfect. I am not being biased in any way.

“I think he would be perfect for it, and he has got a fantastic English accent as everyone knows from his performance in Rush.

“He has obviously got the physical shape. Tom is also training and hard at it in his own gym, but Chris is in a league of his own when it comes to physique.” (Via The Mirror)

While this isn’t necessarily a rumor, it certainly won’t stop fans (Bondage Enthusiasts, as I call them) from throwing gasoline on the fire for the hunky Australian. If anything, maybe this will inspire a heated three-way rivalry on the set of Thor, with Hemsworth, Hiddleston, and Elba tearing their shirts off and wrestling for the honor of playing the ultimate gentleman spy. Or they could do that just for fun. Either way, I’m sure that video idea could raise enough money to cure everything.
