‘Community’ Creator Dan Harmon May Have Added To The ‘Doctor Strange’ Script

It appears Doctor Strange has received a bit of assistance from a Greendale alum.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Community mastermind/Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon was brought in to lend his expertise by writing some late-in-the-game scenes. THR also notes that Harmon came aboard after the motion picture completed principal production and that his pages were “for additional photography.” It’d be nice if it said “additional photography” was code for an elaborate way to include Heat Vision and Jack into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we’d recommend against betting on it.

The script for Doctor Strange has seen a number of authors in its march towards the big screen. Prometheus co-writer Jon Spaihts has a story credit, as do director Scott Dickerson his frequent collaborator, C. Robert Cargill (Dickerson and Cargill wrote Sinister together). But none of them have the ability to turn Sanctum Sanctorum into a massive and mystical blanket fort, so you understand the addition, assuming it is so.

Details of what’s to come are a little bit sparse aside from tidbits like Benedict Cumberbatch taking on the title role, Marvel hyping 3D as a “required” part of the viewing experience, and then there’s the uncomfortable way that the film’s chosen to handle casting The Ancient One. Tilda Swinton has pushed for audiences to have an open mind until they see the film, which they’ll have the opportunity to do on November 4.
