Conan O’Brien and Arnold Schwarzenegger have quite the history across late night. Conan has whipped out an impression of the action star many times on the air and despite being a guest multiple times, he has never murdered the host for making fun of Jingle All The Way countless times.
They’re actually friendly away from the show too, proven by a small story he told on Wednesday’s show with Cobie Smulders. After some discussion of those mobile game commercials he’s starring in and how much Arnold loves to drop his catchphrases into normal conversation or announcements during his day — making my vision of his governorship a whole lot more interesting — Conan begins to talk about a moment where he encountered Schwarzenegger at a local coffee shop. It’s Conan’s favorite encounter with a celebrity ever, apparently, despite neither really have anything to say.
As it turns out, even Arnold isn’t a chatterbug in the morning. But he does seem to be a nice guy, speaking to Conan despite it being too early to really grasp thoughts the way you want to. That’s why Arnold can only muster some great praise on coffee, which Conan relays to the audience in his best impression. He should just be happy that he didn’t run into Arnold during the Olympics in Rio. We know how the guy acts when he’s around all those Brazilians.
