Danny Trejo’s ‘Lost’ Princess Leia Audition Tape Is The Ailment For ‘Star Wars’ Overload

As Star Wars: The Force Awakens shatters one box-office record after another during its debut weekend, the fandom of Star Wars geeks worldwide is at a fever pitch. At packed theaters, moviegoers are dressing up like Chewbacca, Darth Vader, or new fan favorite BB-8 (thankfully, there have been no reports of anyone attending the film dressing up like the reviled Jar Jar Binks).

The Star Wars fervor has gotten so intense that even President Barack Obama announced his plans to watch The Force Awakens at the end of his year-end speech. The movie is also the subject for almost every discussion on television and social media. However, the video that was brought by Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network may take the cake as the best Star Wars-themed item of the weekend.

In this “lost audition” video, Machete star and overall cinema badass Danny Trejo wears his hair in the classic buns of Princess Leia Organa, and says the line, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope” before bursting into uncontrollable laughter. As amazing as Carrie Fisher has been in the role, it is clear that Trejo would have been an excellent choice to play Leia as well.
