Dax Shepard Did A Ride Along With The LAPD To Prepare For ‘CHiPS’

Everybody’s second favorite half of Kristen Bell’s marriage, Dax Shepard, was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, and when the host was finally done asking him questions about meaningless things like life and work, they got into what really matters – a movie version of an 80s TV show. As we already knew, Shepard ruined Wilmer Valderrama’s life by signing on to write and direct a Warner Bros. adaptation of the NBC TV series CHiPS, which told the story of two smooth-talking California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers named Frank Poncharello and Jon Baker. Shepard will obviously play the latter, unless he wants to be totes hilarious and really shake things up.

Shepard explained to Kimmel that he’s so serious about this CHiPS movie that he went on a ride along with the LAPD’s gang unit – the actual CHP doesn’t offer ride alongs – and they rolled up on a scene so random and hilarious, that it’s basically right out of a RENO 911! bit. Shepard’s CHiPS co-star Michael Peña will be on Kimmel later this week, most likely to discuss the hilarious adventures of sculpting a sweet bike pants bulge.
