Did Disney Hint At ‘Aladdin’ In The Opening Scene Of ‘Beauty And The Beast’? This Fan Theory Sure Is Convincing

Disney is known for dumping little hints about other Disney movies into the one that you’re currently watching. Characters from Lady and the Tramp are in 101 DalmationsStitch appears in Treasure Planetand characters from Cars show up in Finding Nemo. That’s cool, but this latest fan theory about Beauty and the Beast is much bigger than all that. Ever wonder what Belle was reading as she ran around her small provincial town honking ‘Bonjour’ at the townspeople? Well, it turns out it might have been Aladdin.

Hold up. Wait a second. This actually makes a lot of sense. In fact, it makes so much sense that a Tumblr User calling herself Disney Mom (which means she knows more about Disney than we’d ever hope to) broke it down for us, making it clear that the book Belle is “borrowing” from her village book shop (because she somehow doesn’t understand how store or supporting her local economy works) (enjoy your Barnes & Noble, small provincial town) is actually Aladdin. Why? Because both Aladdin and the book Belle’s reading have a lot in common, such as far-off places, sword fights, princes in disguise, and a whole bunch of magic. It could be anything, but since Aladdin came out just a year later, it might be that Disney was hinting at its release. In fact, Mickey probably was!

Here’s Belle dropping some more hints to the sheep she chills with on the regs:

What do you think? Clever hint or mere coincidence?
