Marvel’s Doctor Strange will be bringing its trippy “Escher stuff” to theaters in just one month (November 4), and the newest teaser confirms long-standing rumors about how the film ties into the Infinity War. We see Strange seemingly manipulate time while fighting with Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen), while his voiceover also speaks of time and the scenes run in reverse.
This is the best confirmation yet that Strange is in possession of the Time Stone, one of only two Infinity Gems not officially introduced in the movies yet. (This leaves only the Soul Stone left for Thanos to find for his Infinity Gauntlet in future movies.) Marvel head Kevin Feige already hinted at the Time Stone being in Doctor Strange, saying The Eye of Agamotto that Strange wears around his neck allows him to “manipulate probabilities” and “screw around with time.”
Marvel posted the new, not-particularly-subtle “time” teaser on Twitter along with a message in upside down writing. We’re not entirely sure what it says. Either it says, “You think you know how the world works… Watch and expand your mind” or it says, “Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.” Could be either.
