‘Harry Potter’ Fans Are Sharing Their Very Accurate Patronus Using This Tool

If you want to live like Harry Potter, you can buy the house where he grew up. If you want to become educated in the finer arts of drinking potentially dangerous potions like Harry Potter, you can visit Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at Universal Studios. If you want a sweet forehead scar like Harry Potter, well, that’s what shady tattoo parlors are for. But there’s one thing Harry Potter can do that us poor Muggles can’t (besides fly on a broom, because he’s a fictional character): cast a Patronus.

It’s sort of the Harry Potter version of the Force from Star Wars, except instead of binding the galaxy together, the Patronus charm keeps Dementors at bay. To quote Professor Lupin, “A Patronus is a kind of positive force, and for the wizard who can conjure one, it works something like a shield, with the Dementor feeding on it, rather than him. In order for it to work, you need to think of a memory.” Allow the happy memory to consume you, and once you “lose yourself… speak the incantation Expecto Patronum.” Dementors be gone.

The Patronus is half-charm, half-spirit animal — for Harry, it’s a stag; for Luna Lovegood, a hare. And now you can find out what yours is. Today, Pottermore, J.K. Rowling’s official fan site, debuted the Discover Your Patronus feature. “Summon up your happiest memory, and the Patronus experience will take you through a beautiful forest where you’ll be asked to make a series of choices, based on a set of cryptic prompts,” Pottermore implores. “Your answers will be timed and you can only discover your Patronus once.” So, if you get a naked mole rat, you stay with naked mole rat.

Here are some of the best uses of Discover Your Patronus.

Sorry, but there’s one animal you can’t get.
