Jack Black May Have Just Committed A Musical Crime With This Odd ‘Goosebumps’ Music Video

Back in the ’90s, there were countless movie tie-in songs that seemed to coincide with every major film release that would hit during the peak release periods during the year. Prince knocked out an entire album of Batman tunes, MC Hammer gave The Addams Family their own hip hop theme song and Will Smith famously rapped about Men In Black and the Wild Wild West. Now we’re in 2015 and the musical tie-in seems like a thing of the past. An almost passe form of marketing that doesn’t really count in these days of musical streaming.

Clearly the folks at Nerdist and the minds behind the Goosebumps film didn’t get that message. That’s why we have “Bumps Gonna Goose Ya!” from MF Bumps and Jack Black. In its defense, Goosebumps is aimed at children and the song is likely a send up of those earlier classics. But that doesn’t save it from being a hard sell with nothing more than a bunch of Goosebumps titles put together in a “rap” while Jack Black dances with ghost men in the background in between shouts at the camera.

People were likely paid for this, which I applaud, but it does make me wonder if I made a mistake as a child. I really enjoyed Goosebumps and the whole idea of horror stories that were for me at the time, but now I feel like I had some sort of brain issue. I’m slightly embarrassed and I blame MF Bumps with his ideas that bumps will goose me. They’re going to pinch me in the ass?
