What’s Happened To The ‘Home Alone’ Cast After 25 Years?

Home Alone came out 25 years ago, and it has been teaching us about the power of cheese pizza and the upside of bad parenting ever since. Although the sequel is arguably better, for any child growing up at that point, the original became a dream movie: You ditch your annoying family, eat whatever you want, torture two bumbling thieves and when you want to come back to reality, your family shows back up. Everyone wins!

But as we grew up, so did the the stars of the movie. Macaulay Culkin soared to international attention after the movie and a few others, but lately he’s gotten the most attention as part of the #1 pizza-themed Velvet Underground-inspired band, The Pizza Underground. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern — who played Harry Lime and Marv Merchants, respectively (did you realize those characters had last names?) — have IMDb entries that read quite differently. The same goes for Kevin’s parents, John Heard and Catherine O’Hara. John Candy, whose cameo was one of the best parts of that movie, continued to be in more hit movies (Cool Runnings!) until his untimely death in 1994. Home Alone even co-starred Kieran Culkin, Macaulay’s brother who has been in plenty of films, including Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Here’s a look back at the main cast then and now in honor of the movie’s 25th anniversary. Who is your favorite Home Alone cast member and their post-Home Alone project?
