Jennifer Lawrence Continues Her Streak Of Being Awesome By Donating $2 Million To A Children’s Hospital

All-around good egg Jennifer Lawrence has already done more than enough to confirm her “America’s Sweetheart” status, but an act of kindness and compassion in her hometown enhances that mystique (sorry) all the more.

The Hunger Games heroine is donating a whopping $2 million to the Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Ky. The money will go toward establishing the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the facility. In a short video tied to the announcement, the Academy Award winning actress urged the public to match her gift by raising an additional $2 million. Lawrence shared that her visits to the hospital have had a major impact on her.

“My family and I have met so many wonderful children on our visits to the hospital. Their strength and courage is inspiring.”

As you might imagine, Lawrence’s gift was happily accepted by the Kosair Children’s Hospital.

“We are thankful for the generosity shown by the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation with this gift,” said Thomas D. Kmetz, division president, Women’s and Children’s Services and Kosair Children’s Hospital. “We are equally thankful that she has put her trust in the outstanding work taking place at Kosair Children’s Hospital every day by challenging the community to join her in support of our heart care program.”

There you have it. Jennifer Lawrence: Still pretty gawshdarn swell. For more on the Kosair Children’s Hospital’s call for donations, check out their website.
