J.K. Simmons Is Switching To Team DC With A Role In ‘Justice League’

While Batman V Superman will have no shortage of cameos, and Wonder Woman is apparently going to steal the entire movie, Justice League will likely have even more. And, in fact, we’ll see one very important member of Batman’s team hanging out with the League: Commissioner Jim Gordon.

As for who’s playing him, it’s none other than J. Jonah Jameson himself, J.K. Simmons. So, that more or less puts an end on rumors he might come back as Jonah, unless it’s a quick cameo. Which we won’t rule out because, really, what Spider-Man movie is complete without the iconic flat-top?

The more interesting question is why we won’t see Commissioner Gordon in Batman V Superman, which takes place in both Metropolis and Gotham, if the movie’s dryly funny marketing is any indication. Is he retired and only appearing in flashbacks? Similarly, it’s certainly curious that an Oscar-winning actor with a busy schedule would sign on for what’s likely to be a tiny role in a big, two-part movie. Perhaps those rumors of a standalone Batfleck movie are more accurate than we realized.

We’ll find out for sure fairly soon. Justice League arrives in November 2017.
