‘SNL’ Human Miracle Kate McKinnon Will Weave Culinary Magic As ‘The Lunch Witch’

Best to enjoy Kate McKinnon‘s all-star Saturday Night Live shenanigoats while you can. Cinema™ is increasingly sorting it out that the SNL human miracle should been in a lot more motion pictures.

McKinnon has been tapped to play “The Lunch Witch” in an movie adaptation of Deb Lucke’s YA novel of the same name, reports Deadline. You may be able to deduce what the film’s about based on the title. Here’s what McKinnon’s Grunhilda has on her plate for the upcoming motion picture:

For generations and generations, the women in her family have stirred up trouble in a big, black pot. Grunhilda inherits her famous ancestors’ recipes and cauldron, but no one believes in magic anymore. Since her only useful skill is cooking up potfuls of foul brew, she finds herself uniquely qualified to hire on as school lunch lady. Grunhilda delights in scaring the kids until she meets a timid little girl named Madison with a big set of glasses who becomes an unlikely friend. Madison needs help at school and at home, but helping people goes against everything Grunhilda’s believes in as a witch. Will she stir up trouble with her brood?

Truly a difficult question to ponder in these complicated times. We have little doubt that McKinnon is up to the challenge and Ghostbusters did a lovely job of confirming that the Emmy-minted actress is just as capable on a larger viewing rectangle, so parents might be jazzed over the prospect of more McKinnon. Here’s hoping she can juggle SNL and her other projects for just a little while longer.
