When Eddie Redmayne was cast as the lead role in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, it definitely felt like it was really going to happen. But now the female lead has been cast and somehow it feels even more official. Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) will play the role of Tina — short for Porpetina — a witch who operates in the United States. Redmayne’s character, Newt Scamander, journeys from England to New York City in search of the titular beasts.

For a little background, the trilogy of movies is based on a 42-page book that Rowling wrote in the format of one of Hogwarts’ textbooks. The first movie is expected to be released in 2016.
