Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has finally weighed in on Steven Spielberg saying superhero movies are on the way out like Westerns, and Zack Snyder calling Ant-Man a “flavor of the week.” FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

Well, not so much “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!” as shrug and move on. Feige’s response to IGN didn’t involve any baseball-capped executives slamming heads with baseball-capped directors. Regarding Spielberg’s quote about superhero movies going the “way of the Western,” Feige pointed out that Westerns were popular for 40 or 50 years, and Iron Man was only eight years ago. His response to Snyder’s comments was more interesting:

“Those are all very different movies. […] Civil War may as well be a different genre from Age of Ultron. […] I think it’s the same thing as saying, ‘I don’t know how many more movies can be made from novels. I think people are going to [get] bored with novels being turned into movies. I don’t know how long it’s going to last.'”

In other words, as long as there are comic books, somebody’s going to want to make movies from those stories. It’s a fair point, but have you also considered FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT?
