Will ‘Martian’ Actress Mackenzie Davis Be The New Pris In The ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel?

Since 2012, Ridley Scott has directed exactly one movie per year. The streak began with Prometheus (2012), The Counselor (2013), and Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014) before he made a film worthy of his talent, the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning The Martian (2015). Scott is taking 2016 off, because he’s got a busy 2017 ahead of him with directing Alien: Covenant — not to be confused with Alien 5 — and “assisting” on the Blade Runner sequel.

Details about Blade Runner 2 are scarce, but we do know Harrison Ford is returning as Rick Deckard and Ryan “Baby Goose” Gosling is still handsome and sexy while doing pushups. Also in the cast: Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, and Mackenzie Davis, who was good in The Martian and great on AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire. (You should really be watching Halt and Catch Fire.) Here’s more vagueness:

Plot details are being kept under wraps but it is known that the story takes place several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original and that Ford is reprising his role as replicant hunter Rick Deckard. (Via the Hollywood Reporter)

Davis’ role is — surprise! — unknown, but it’s hard not to notice her resemblance to Daryl Hannah as Pris (who’s dead, but when has that ever stopped pop culture?) in the original. She even has the hair for the part.

Blade Runner 2 comes out October 6, 2017 (hopefully).
