Matt Damon Pranks Civilians Into Carrying Out Spy ‘Missions’ In This Silly Clip

Popular and handsome movie star Matt Damon seems like a worthy candidate to talk us normos into pretty much anything. (Well, aside from watching We Bought A Zoo.) This begs the question, if someone that sounded like Jason Bourne was asking for espionage assistance, would you take the call?

Damon and Omaze have paired up for a project designed to support water.org, in which unsuspecting civilians going about their regular lives are thrust into spy-esque situations. A stranger might hand off a phone with a series of instructions for which there’s a lot of imaginary pressure to carry out. Damon’s not afraid to toss in some silly orders, although movies and television have wildly misled us about how easy(ish) it is to stroll into the pulp spy world.

“Please god don’t let this be no setup,” moans one of would-be spies before the big reveal that this project was just for fun. (Imagine how nuts it would be if the people in the video were never told the truth?) To make up for the spectacle, Damon gives the “participants” tickets for Jason Bourne (out July 29), which seems fair enough. However, now we have some suspicions about who or what was behind The Great Burger King Window Smash Party of 2016.
