Boxing fans lost their collective minds yesterday when Floyd Mayweather finally announced his title match with Manny Pacquiao, set to take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 2nd. Along with HBO and Showtime’s involvement, the tripart welterweight title fight is bound to attract millions of viewers (and dollars). The thing is, Marvel‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron opens that weekend.

According to TMZ, the Disney titan (formerly known as an independent studio) isn’t budging from the film’s May 1st release date:

Despite the competition, the company says it’s riding with “Captain America” and “Iron Man” because when we asked if there were any plans to jiggle the schedule the response was simply, “Nope.”

Boxing is cool and all, but yet another “fight of the century” set against the sequel to a film that grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide? The only people who think Mayweather and Pacquiao stand a chance are the childless, and let’s face it — kids rule the world.
