Amy Schumer is on fire after Trainwreck cleaned up at the box office. As a reward, a new movie that she wrote is gaining momentum in Hollywood, a movie that may or may not star Schumer and Meryl Streep as mother and daughter. More details, courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter

The studio and producers Paul Feig and Peter Chernin have been sizing up venerable names for the mother role (Sally Field, Meryl Streep and American Horror Story‘s Frances Conroy are on the wish list), but that casting hinges on first finding a director. Insiders say the script came into the studio in mid-July and a directors shortlist quickly was drawn up, with Warm Bodies‘ Jonathan Levine and The Inbetweeners Movie‘s Ben Palmer, among those mentioned. Also in the running are Mike White (Year of the Dog), Little Miss Sunshine team Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, and Lucia Aniello, who directed episodes of Broad City.

There’s barely a story here. Still, whoever leaked this news to the Hollywood Reporter is a genius, because even hearing about the infant stages of this production has me salivating. And I hardly ever go to the movies anymore, but seeing Amy Schumer and Meryl Streep in a movie together would definitely compel me to make an exception. So, fingers crossed.
