Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Alien’ Movie Will Be Released After The Second ‘Prometheus’

Following the news that Neill Blomkamp is definitely going to get to make his Alien movie, it’s been announced that it will be released after Ridley Scott’s sequel to Prometheus hits theaters in 2016. The new Alien movie will also be produced by Scott’s production company Scott/Free and take place after the events of the Prometheus sequel.

Though that was obvious because Prometheus was originally supposed to be a prequel to the Alien movies, then it wasn’t, people consider it a prequel anyway. Scott claims that it “carries the DNA” of Alien, but should be seen as an original story. No matter what it is to you, your nerd friends, or Ridley Scott, Prometheus stuff takes place before the Alien stuff.

Bloody Disgusting is speculating that Prometheus might now be expanded into a trilogy, maybe because the second movie is not going to include any Xenomorphs. But Scott keeps maintaining that it’s not technically a prequel, so maybe there wouldn’t have been any Xenomorphs in that story anyway.

Does anyone have a crystal ball? That works?

Prometheus 2 is shooting for a summer 2016 release date, which means Blomkamp’s Alien probably won’t be out until at least 2017. But that’s not going to stop people from speculating on what the movie will be about, especially with all that fancy concept art. And Louis CK’s ambitions to be killed by an alien.
