These New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Photos Reveal The Many Faces Of Michael Fassbender

If you like your movie adaptations of video games laced with both Oscar nominees and winners, and directed by someone whose last movie was an adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s bloodiest tragedies, then Assassin’s Creed will definitely be right up your alley.

Set for a December 21 release (because what says Christmas more than an action flick about a trained killer discovering he has roots in the 15th century?), Assassin’s Creed stars Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch, a ne’er do well who figures out how to channel the memories and training of his ancestor. He then learns the ways of a bunch of master assassins from a secret society that dates all the way back to the 1400s. 20th Century Fox released a whole bunch of photos from the flick, including one of Fassbender buckled up, Hannibal Lecter-style in the present day, and another of the actor wielding a giant sword while wearing the video game’s recognizable hooded robe.

The movie co-stars Marion Cottilard, who teamed up with Fassbender in Assassin’s Creed director Justin Kurzel’s last project, a take on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, as well as Michael K. Williams and Brendan Gleeson. By the looks of these images, Assassin’s Creed will provide some serious holiday action, adventure and assassination shenanigans for the whole family.
