Don’t Count On The Treblemakers To Return For An Encore In ‘Pitch Perfect 3’

There goes treble. That tweet you see nestled above is that of Skylar Astin stating that he and his “Treblemakers” brethren will not be returning in the next Pitch Perfect offering.

“Yes. As of now, the Trebles and I won’t be in the third Pitch Perfect movie,” tweeted (complete with waving emoji!) Astin on the fate of the franchise regulars. “They seem to be taking the story in a different direction.”

The exit of the Trebles from the next film is bound to have an interesting dynamic of the Pitch Perfect saga, although we have a suspicion that Adam Devine might pop by anyway because his character is custom-built for a cameo or six.

A “different direction” does seem like a natural place for the Bellas (post-Bellas?) who will presumably be leaving campus for new adventures that will also facilitate musical numbers and aca-speak. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Anna Camp are all coming back for the third Pitch motion picture, and it will be with Step Up: All In helmer Trish Sie serving as director for this go-around. Aside from that, details have been in short supply of what to expect. A release date that’s been moved around on multiple occasions may suggest the studio isn’t sure either.

Provided there won’t be another change to the schedule, Pitch Perfect 3 will serenade filmgoers on December 22, 2017.
