Watch A Clip Of Pixar’s Impossibly Adorable Short Film ‘Piper’

Pixar’s latest animated effort Finding Dory is less than a week from entering theaters. Based on advance reviews, fans of Nemo, Marlin, and Dory have something to look forward to without fear of being let down by the dreaded sequel drop-off in quality. But before you go on another aquatic quest, check out the above clip of the latest Pixar short film Piper which from the looks of things will be a great amuse bouche before the sweetness, sadness, and (hopefully) happy ending of Dory arrives.

Even though it is a less than 30-second long clip, there is no denying the crisp realism of the animation is something to behold. The specificity of individual feathers on every sandpiper and the granules of sand are reminiscent of the groundbreaking animation in Disney’s Brave. From the brief glimpse at the story, it looks as if the studio is sticking with its tradition of no dialogue in these shorts. Which is okay, especially seeing how expressive and cute the sandpipers are as they hop around the beach and find their breakfast. But what could they be running after (or away from) in such a hurry, leaving the poor baby bird behind? You’ll have to find out when Finding Dory and Piper hit theaters on Friday, June 17th.
