Real-Life ‘American Psycho’ Charged With Two Grisly Murders In Hong Kong

The 43-story J Residence building in Hong Kong experienced a terror-filled weekend when two women were found mutilated in a scene reminiscent of American Psycho. The suspect is 29-year-old Rurik George Caton Jutting, a British banker who just one week prior left his gig at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Authorities believe that the two women — a 25-year-old from Indonisia and a 30-year-old from the Philippines — may have been sex workers.

One woman, Sumarti Ningsih, was found on the balcony, naked, and partially decapitated. Her body had been decomposing there for up to four days and stuffed in a suitcase. The second woman has yet to be identified, and was found on the couch with stab wounds to her neck, and her throat had been sliced.

It is believed that Jutting killed the women on October 27th and November 1st. Security footage shows Jutting and the unidentified woman entering his flat on Saturday around midnight. At 3:45 AM, Jutting called the police to his flat where the bodies of the women were discovered along with small amounts of cocaine and sex toys.

Jutting’s LinkedIn profile shows that he studied at The University of Cambridge before working with structured capital markets at Barclays in London. Jutting appeared at a preliminary hearing in Hong Kong on Sunday and said “I do,” when asked if he was cognizant of his actions. A Bank of America e-mail account for Jutting had been left with this chilling automatic reply:

“For escalation please contact God, though suspect the devil will have custody. [Last line only really worked if I had followed through..]”

Perhaps even more terrifying is the notion that Jutting is cooperating with authorities in creating a crime scene reconstruction video, which will be just about the most frightening horror film ever.  An employee at the J Residence Building told authorities, “He always seemed so sad – he never said hello to any of us or smiled.”
