Will Robin Wright Be Human Or Replicant In The ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel?

Production on the sequel to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic Blade Runner has been coming along, slowly but surely.  Today it made another significant casting announcement, one following the addition of Drive and Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal star Ryan Gosling.  Actress Robin Wright will be joining the cast, which also includes the original film’s star Harrison Ford.  Wright is best known for her roles as Princess Buttercup in The Princess Bride and Claire Underwood in Netflix series House of Cards– a role for which she won a Golden Globe award.

Wright’s role has yet to be announced, but speculation is sure to begin immediately as to whether she’ll be playing a human or a replicant.  Ford will be rounding out his recent Greatest Hits tour, previously seeing him suit back up as both Han Solo and Indiana Jones, by returning as Detective Rick Deckard.  Gosling’s role, like Wright’s, is still unknown, so feel free to speculate wildly until the movie is released.

The film will be produced by original director Ridley Scott and directed by Denis Villeneuve, whose film Sicario clearly left good impressions on the right people last year.  It will be released on January 18th, 2018 and should give us definitive answers before dropping more murky mystery.
