Carrie Fisher Accidentally Revealed A ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Spoiler That Will Make You Sad

Even though we’re days away from a new Star Trek movie, it was Star Wars that dominated the weekend discussion. Somewhere out there, Chewbacca is using a Tribble as a tennis ball. The London-based Star Wars Celebration began with a Rogue One sizzle reel, continued with David S. Goyer saying he’s writing a virtual reality movie featuring Darth Vader, and ended with our first look at the Han Solo spinoff movie. Oh yeah, and Carrie Fisher accidentally revealed something about Star Wars: Episode VIII she probably wasn’t supposed to.

During a panel on Sunday, actor Warwick Davis — an Ewok in Star Wars, the Leprechaun in Leprechaun — asked Fisher about what she knows of the time period between the end of Return of the Jedi and beginning of The Force Awakens. Fisher apparently misheard the question, possibly because her amazing dog was panting too hard beside her, and replied, “Han’s funeral.”

She tried to correct herself, adding, “The old one, oh. Han and I have a very volatile relationship obviously, which leads to space divorce. No, I don’t think we are divorced, we’re just estranged.” But that’s still a pretty big spoiler to give away (Fisher also described Leia and Han’s son, Kylo Ren, as “naughty Hitler,” so no one at Disney can stay mad at her). Hopefully instead of his body being burned, like Qui-Gon Jinn at the end of The Phantom Menace, Han Solo’s corpse is frozen in Carbonite. Just like the good ol’ times.
