‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer Gets A Rebellious Beastie Boys Remix

Anything Star Trek can do, Star Wars thinks it can do better. It can make more money, stay more culturally relevant, and even Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner, committed nerd Seppuku when he said, “Star Wars created Star Trek.” (This is not technically accurate.) But which sci-fi franchise can use the Beastie Boys better? It’s a trick question: the Beastie Boys are always perfect.

There has been at least one Beastie Boys song in Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond, where [spoiler alert] “Sabotage” helps save the world from Stringer Bell’s swarm of deadly spaceships (what a great movie). There has yet to be a single Beastie Boys song in any Star Wars movie, which I guess makes sense considering it takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but c’mon, wouldn’t it be great to see the Max Rebo Band cover “Pass the Mic”? (Mike D is Rappertunie.) The closest we’ll get to that coming true is a Rogue One trailer a fan put together.

What song did he choose to soundtrack the adventures of Jyn Erso and Ben Mendelsohn’s cape? “Sabotage,” of course. The Battlestar Galactica movie is already planning which deep cut from Polly Wog Stew to use for its trailer.
