It’s hard to believe Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven, a remake of John Sturges’ classic Western based on Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, will be in theaters on September 23, but it’s also hard to believe it’s already September, so there you go. The remake stars Denzel Washington (The Greatest Actor of All Time, Period) and Chris Pratt, as well as a rogue’s gallery of outlaws who’ve teamed up to fight Peter Sarsgaard. Re-reading that sentence, it sounds like we’re saying these actors battled Peter Sarsgaard in real life, and I’m okay with this interpretation.
If the first and second trailers didn’t convince you The Magnificent Seven would be a fun action flick, Sony has released a set of character vignettes for the seven mercenaries, headlined by “The Bounty Hunter” Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington) in the video above. Continue on for the other six videos, including “The Gambler” Josh Faraday (Chris Pratt), “The Warrior” Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier), “The Sharpshooter” Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), “The Outlaw” Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), “The Assassin” Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), and “The Hunter” Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), about whom Chris Pratt’s character says, “I believe that bear was wearing peoples’ clothes.”
