They’re Remaking ‘The Craft’ And Nothing Is Sacred Anymore

First we saw the trailer for the Jem and the Holograms remake and its inevitably horrified-yet-hilarious reactions all over the Internet. That was a pretty bad start for the week, but then news broke of yet another remake in the works — the time regarding a beloved cult property from the ’90s.

That’s right, folks. According to THR, the next victim of Hollywood’s continual desire to wash away our nostalgia with bleach is The Craft.

The studio is remaking the 1996 supernatural teen thriller, tapping up-and-coming horror filmmaker Leigh Janiak to write and direct the new version. Janiak will co-write the script with Phil Graziadei, the co-scribe on her breakthrough movie Honeymoon.

Doug Wick, who was The Craft‘s original producers, is back in the same capacity, this time producing with Lucy Fisher. Fisher was vice chairman of Columbia when the first movie was made.

Okay, considering Janiak’s film Honeymoon (seriously, see the trailer if you haven’t already), maybe this isn’t such a bad idea after all. Maybe. Either way, it’s always good to revisit the original film’s trailer for good measure (and an extremely ’90s soundtrack).
