Tim Meadows Joins The Lonely Island’s Boy Band Comedy Film

In addition to being one of the longest serving members of the cast of Saturday Night Live, Tim Meadows has been an excellent secondary cast member to many a fine comedy movie. He also starred in The Ladies Man, but the less said about that the better. However, in movies such as Mean Girls and Walk Hard, he’s shined in smaller roles, so it’s encouraging news that Deadline reports he has joined the cast of Andy Samberg’s upcoming movie Connor4Real.

The film, which is being produced by Judd Apatow and directed by Samberg’s The Lonely Island counterparts Akiva Shaffer and Jorma Taccone, will star Samberg as a rapper who decides to reunite his old boy band to revive his career when it hits a snag. So, basically, it’s Justin Timberlake’s worst nightmare come to life.

The movie will be a parody of music documentaries such as Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which should mean plenty of performance footage, and we all know the success The Lonely Island has had with music-based comedy. Meadows is playing Harry, the titular Connor’s manager. It seems like a good role for him.

The movie sounds promising on the surface, and the inclusion of Meadows in the cast is a good sign. On the other hand, the last time the Lonely Island guys were handed a movie, they made Hot Rod. The likely hope for the guys is that Connor4Real will end up being slightly more inclusive in terms of an audience.
