Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the Abbott and Costello of cannibal jokes, have been inseparable since 1992, when they filmed the construction paper classic The Spirit of Christmas at the University of Colorado. That short, sometimes known as Jesus vs. Frosty, turned into South Park, which has been on Comedy Central for 19 seasons and counting. Parker and Stone have also collaborated on Cannibal! The Musical, Orgazmo, BASEketball, Team America: World Police, The Book of Mormon, and of course, South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut.

But even the happiest couples occasionally need a break, even (especially?) after 24 years. That’s why Trey Parker will voice a villain in Despicable Me 3, and Matt Stone won’t. Stay together for the Kenny, guys.

Balthazar Bratt is a former child star, “driven to supervillainy as a result of the abrupt cancelation of his TV series when he hit puberty,” explained Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri. Now he seeks revenge against all who mocked him via world domination. Bratt wears a purple-ish outfit with shoulder pads and umbrella pants, reflecting that he is “a character clearly stuck in the ’80s.” Voicing Balthazar Bratt is Trey Parker, the South Park co-creator. Meledandri notes this is the first time Parker has “ever been directed by anyone else but himself.” It’ll be interesting to see if there are any South Park references in Despicable Me 3, like all the Minions being replaced by Butters. “I’ve got something in my front pocket for Gru…”
