Nicole Kidman May Lend Her Sword To ‘Wonder Woman’ As An Amazonian Warrior

Gal Gadot is likely to become a major star once the world sees her as Wonder Woman, but until that happens, she’s not exactly a household name. So, it’s hardly surprising to learn that Warner Bros. is looking to add the far more bankable Nicole Kidman to the cast of Wonder Woman.

While Kidman isn’t yet a lock, according to The Wrap, she’s in serious ongoing negotiations to play a “high-ranking Amazonian warrior” in Wonder Woman. While we don’t know exactly who Kidman might play, it seems most likely she’d play Queen Hippolyta, leader of the Amazons and creator/mother of Wonder Woman (she crafted her out of clay in the classic comics, and physically gave birth to her in the New 52 universe). The only other real option would be the Amazon Mala, although she’s supposed to be more of a contemporary of Wonder Woman’s, and obviously Kidman has a few years on Gadot.

Kidman better start hitting the gym now if she wants to heft Hippolyta’s axe.

If Warner Bros. wants Kidman, they might have to fight for her time, as she’s already attached to several upcoming projects, including the thriller The Silent Wife and an HBO series, Big Little Lies. I have a feeling that if Kidman does appear in Wonder Woman, her screen time may be limited, and may not include that much ass-kicking and sword swinging, but who knows?

Wonder Woman hits theaters June 23, 2017.
